Lawyers should represent justice, so why do they always defend some bad guys who deserve severe punishment? This shows that lawyers lack conscience!

Saying this is too unfair to us lawyers. Not to mention the dry and tedious theoretical knowledge, just in terms of actual cases, if it weren't for the tireless efforts of lawyers, wrongful cases like the Zhao Zuohai case, the She Xianglin case, and the Nie Shubin case might never have been overturned. These cases may only be the tip of the iceberg during specific periods. When Zhao Zuohai, She Xianglin, and Nie Shubin were arrested and tried, they were all considered 'bad guys,' but just because everyone thought they were 'bad guys' doesn't mean they actually were. The existence of lawyers as a third party outside of the public prosecution and the parties involved is to prevent such wrongful cases from happening.

Nowadays, there are countless unscrupulous media outlets that, in order to attract attention, disregard media ethics. They mislead public opinion recklessly without understanding the real situation, and under the agitation of public sentiment, they may force judicial authorities to make incorrect judgments.

Lawyers defending criminal suspects in court is not only to achieve substantive justice but also reflects procedural justice. Even if the evidence is overwhelming, every necessary procedural step must not be omitted. Procedural justice reflects the fairness and impartiality of the law, and it is also to protect all of us ordinary people. Without procedural justice, any of us could innocently suffer imprisonment, so don't say that lawyers lack conscience.
